DL Hughley meets "The White Shaft" in Cloud 9!

Comedy superstar DL Hughley breaks new ground as a comic actor as Burt Reynolds’ co-star in Cloud 9, Frozen Pictures’ first feature motion picture, available on DVD January 3rd. DL takes on the hilarious and controversial role of Tenspot-- Reynolds' son!

The Original King of Comedy and host of Comedy Central’s ‘Weekend at the DL’ talks about his Cloud 9 character and his special bond with Burt Reynolds:

“Tenspot is the adopted son of Burt’s character, Billy Cole. His father apparently didn’t want anything to do with him and left him with Billy and Billy kind of just raised him. So that automatically made me accomplice to all of Billy’s schemes. So I’m his right hand.

“Tenspot’s job in Malibu is a driver. And you know, ‘he who drives the celebrities rules the world.’ We know what they leave in the limo, we know what they do in the limo, we know where they go, so I have all the inside connections that we use to kind of further Billy’s interests.

“When I was a kid, Burt Reynolds was an actor we could relate to because he acted so much like the brothers out there. He was the one always running from the police, always tricking the police. We had JJ from Good Times, but he couldn’t stack up to Burt Reynolds! We could relate to him. He’s like the white Shaft!

“And he’s still just as cool and women think he’s just as sexy. But one day I’m going to be sexy too. Six more movies from now, I figure I’ll be a pretty sexy dude...

“I think Burt and I had a chemistry because there’s a genuine affinity for each other. You meet somebody immediately and you know whether you vibe with them or not. And he’s just a gracious dude and I vibed with him right away. So it was easy for me as a person to see how Ten Spot as a character could feel about this guy. It was a really a cool, a cool vibe. And I don’t think that vibe is something that you can fake. It either is or it ain’t.”

Angie Everhart: Supermodel supersexy in Cloud 9!

Supersexy supermodel Angie Everhart shines in the most exciting role of her career as Julie, the stripper turned beach volleyball star in the motion picture Cloud 9, out on Fox DVD January 3rd.

Angie stars with Burt Reynolds in the film written and produced by Brett Hudson & Burt Kearns of Frozen Pictures and Academy Award winner Albert S. Ruddy. And she faces down beach volleyball legend Gabrielle Reece on the sand.

Angie talks about the special demands of beach volleyball-- and stripping!

“Before this movie I’d never played volleyball before! I learned that Gabrielle Reese is a stud! I think everybody should get out there and do it. Our country would be a lot slimmer if everybody played volleyball. It’s one of the hardest things I’ve done. I have bruises!

“But I think it’s more difficult playing a stripper. To be an athlete is something that I’ve always wanted to be. You know, I love sports. I love anything extreme. And I kind of get into having battle wounds. It’s kind of cool. But being a stripper was harder for me, because they wanted me to do a lap dance and I think there’s an art in doing lap dances and there’s a way that the girls do it and I wasn’t prepared to do a lap dance. It’s kind of hard. And intimacy is involved when it’s not an intimate situation. It makes it more difficult.”

Bootylicious!

Former Miss USA Kenya Moore stars as sexy stripper athlete Champagne, the bootylicious Bonsai in Cloud 9, available on Fox Home Entertainment DVD January 3rd.

Kenya spoke about her role:

“When I first saw the idea of strippers playing volleyball I thought, ‘Hmm, that’s original.’ Ha ha ha! But I thought it was fun. It’s a fun movie. It’s a fun idea. I got a chance to look at it from a different perspective. It’s something I haven’t done before. And it’s comedy. It’s fun, it’s for all ages and it’s gonna be great.”

“I have played volleyball before. I played in high school and I was really good. I was on the varsity team. Cass Technical High School in Detroit. My second year I pretty much excelled in it. It was a lot of fun. I love this game. I love this game and I’ve been a fan of Gabrielle Reece for a long time and when I read that I had an opportunity to actually play in a game with her, even though it’s in a film, I was like, ‘Wow!’ This is so surreal, to be able to play with someone I idolized.”

Burt Reynolds on Cloud 9: "A hell of a good time!"

Superstar BURT REYNOLDS talks about Cloud 9, the movie written and produced by Brett Hudson, Burt Kearns & Albert S. Ruddy, released on DVD by Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment on January 3:

“I suppose it’s flattering if they wrote this character for me. But I think what they maybe had more in mind, is the fact that if I’m good at anything, I think it’s playing a guy who can kind of wink at the audience. Not literally break the fourth wall-- although I have done that-- but who’s having just a hell of a good time. And therefore the audience has a good time. And in reading the script I thought, I think I can have a hell of a good time. There's a lot of fun in this. And the people around me seem to be having a good time.

“It’s an interesting concept. I mean volleyball is one of the fastest growing sports. Beach volleyball is really hot. But my character thinks it needs a little more ‘exotic-ness’ to it. So he has the idea of strippers. I don’t know if anybody’s ever hung on one of those poles with one leg, but it does take an enormous amount of leg strength and a certain athletic ability. So the idea is, if you can take that athletic ability and put it on a beach volleyball game, that possibly might get more male attention. And he’s right. It does get attention.

“And what happens is that the girls, along with getting attention, start getting a little dignity. That happens when you get a little pride about what you’re doing. Not that they don’t have pride that they’re very good strippers, but there isn’t a great pat on the back: ‘Oh, you’re the number one stripper last week and congratulations! Your mother’s very proud of you.’ And if you go whip somebody’s can at beach volleyball and get a chance to maybe play the best in the world. Maybe not beat them but to play them. That’s what happens to them.

“It’s very similar to a picture I did for Al Ruddy where I was a guy who sold out, totally sold out as a football player and was taught to have pride and dignity and love for the game by a bunch of convicts. So in a way, strippers teach my character, Billy Cole, about dignity.”

Cloud 9's director makes a scary move!

Cloud 9 director Harry Basil has surprised Hollywood by following up his slam-bang work on our comedy with a horror movie!

Harry was hired to direct "Soul’s Midnight" by Cloud 9's executive producer, Gray Frederickson.

Before Cloud 9, Harry was best known for directing or writing Rodney Dangerfield's movies, The Fourth Tenor, Back By Midnight, My Five Wives and Meet Wally Sparks.

Harry, who has a second career as a standup comic, is known for casting comedians in his movies. And this scarefest is no exception! Along with Armand Assante, Soul’s Midnight stars comic Joe Nipote—who had a featured role in Cloud 9.

Gray describes Soul's Midnight as “a present-day story based on a historic cult which delves into ancient rituals revolving around the legend of St. George.“ He adds: "I believe Soul's Midnight will appeal to vampire fans around the world and be a great addition to the vampire genre that has been so popular through the years.”

Soul’s Midnight began lensing in Oklahoma City, appropriately, on Halloween.

Congratulations, Harry and Gray— just make sure you're back by midnight!

Cloud 9 hits DVD on January 3rd.

And keep an eye out for Frozen Pictures’ horror film, Psych House.
